For the meatballs:
For the sauce:
Mix all the ingredients for the meatballs in a large bowl until well blended.
Then form ping-pong sized meatballs.
Heat up a large pan with olive oil. In batches brown the meatballs and then transfer them to a plate.
In the same pan heat up oil, add the onions and sauté until translucent, add the meatballs in the pan.
In a bowl mix together the tomatoes (mixed in the blender), lemon juice, sugar and salt.
Pour the mixture on top of the meatballs and give a gentle stir.
Bring it to boil and then cover it and keep simmering for 45 minutes. Stir again.
Sprinkle the chopped pistachios and the parsley on top.
Serve with cous-cous.
