Peel the plantains. Add these and the bayleaves to a large pan and cover with plenty of lightly-salted water. As soon as the water begins to boil add the pork.
In a bowl, mix together the garlic, ginger, bell pepper, chillies and basil. Turn this mixture into the cooking pot then crumble in the bouillon cubes.Heat a little oil in a pan and use to fry the onions until browned.
