Dissolve half of saffron in a cup of hot water and add with salt, pepper and the chickpea flour to the ground lamb or beef.

Mix well until getting a mixture that doesn't stick to the hand.

Fry the onions in a large saucepan until golden brown. Add 5 glasses of water and some salt. Bring it to a boil.

Make 3-4 cm diameter balls from the meat mixture. In a large skillet, heat up some oil and fry them in oil for round 10 minutes over medium heat.

Transfer the balls to boiling water and add lime juice or vinegar, sugar and the rest of the saffron.

Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes. Serve.
