In a large saucepan bring enough water with salt to a boil and cook the maccaroni until half cooked, drain.
In a large skillet heat up some oil, add the onions and fry until translucent. Add the beef, salt and white pepper, cook stirring constantly until the meat is done.
Mix the maccaroni and beef together and then pour into a greased oven casserole (we used individual baking dishes).
In a bowl, whisk the eggs, mix with the milk, grated cheese and pour over the maccaroni-beef mixture.
Sprinkle with the breadcrumbs and top with some few spots of butter on the surface.
Bake on a previously pre-heated oven at 180°C for around 1 hour of until the top is golden brown and the mixture is hard and cooked through.
Serve with tomato ketchup (we ommited this).
