Fry the bacon until it renders its fat, then stir in the sausage and cook until browned (around 8 minutes). Remove from the heat and set aside.
Lightly grease with butter a baking pan with lid (we used individual ones), then sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
Arrange a layer of potatoes in the bottom of each dish and dot with a spoonful of butter. Cover with a layer of egg. Season with salt and pepper.
Cover with a layer of sausage and bacon followed by a layer of sour cream.
Continue layering ending with sour cream. Cover this with a layer of breadcrumbs and dot with a spoonful of butter. Cover with the lid.
Place on a baking tray and bake on a previously pre-heated oven at 180°C for 20 minutes.
Remove the lid and bake for additional 15 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
Let it rest for at least 10 minutes before serving.
